These visual representations represent the design ideas proposed in the Learning Space Design Proposal. It aims to ‘re-imagine’ the LTC into an attractive, flexible, comfortable space for collaborative and future-focused learning.
Below is a poster that gives a summary of changes to the space. Photos are provided as a general idea of the type of furniture choices and colours that would be appropriate for the space. Please click on the right hand corner of the poster to view it in full screen.
Addressing Principles of Universal Design
Design principles one and two guided the (re)arrangement of existing furniture , with the new furniture layout allowing for equitable use and greatly increasing flexibility in use. Principles six and seven are also relevant here as different types of seating and work areas at different heights provide opportunity to minimise fatigue and cater for a greater range of difference with respect to body size and mobility.
Changing the colour of the walls, adding new blinds, replacing carpet and including plants in the room are all aimed at making the design appealing to all users, as directed by Universal design principle one.
Design principle three and four are addressed with the inclusion of acoustic, noticeboard panelling which provides opportunity for clear instructions on how to use the space and maximises perceptible information.
